My Jhalobia experience – Ayodeji Ojo
From the time my then-fiancé proposed (now husband), I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding, preferably in a garden with lots of greenery and some water-theme. But where do you find such a place in Lagos?!!!

I searched and searched and did what I should have done initially – asked around. Someone then told me about this garden very close to the International Airport, and I decided to check it out. I got there and it was love at first sight.

I could see that there was more than enough parking space for the number of guests I had in mind, and I just loved the natural and colourful setting of the gardens. The lady I met, Ameto, was very courteous, and you could tell that she loved what she did…she just has a natural enthusiasm about her. Unfortunately, the date I had in mind for my wedding has already been booked by another couple (and this was like 6 months away), but I was so bent on having this  place that I called my husband on the spot, and convinced him to move the wedding by a week. And that’s how we came to have our wedding at Jhalobia on the 23rd of December 2006.

The service I got from the staff at Jhalobia was excellent. I didn’t have to worry about a thing, as I later found out that Jhalobia does decorations on the site, and that was good news indeed, cos that meant less work for me to do. I also got my bouquet and fresh flowers for my train from the garden. On the wedding day itself, the place looked absolutely fabulous. The drapes, and flowers, particularly the cake stand was just gorgeous. I particularly loved the arched-walkway leading to the high table for the bride and groom. The space was absolutely beautifully done, and everyone seemed to be having a good time.

Ameto was so good at helping organize people and getting them where they were meant to be. She gave her very funny speech during the cake-cutting ceremony about Jhalobia tradition of releasing balloons for couples – one for good health, prosperity and lots of kids. Well, we are on the way to fulfilling them all, particularly the kids!!!

I had no complaints at all. So in all, I am really happy I chose Jhalobia, as the pictures came out beautifully. And I will definitely recommend the venue to everyone. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it!!!
